Hape Wooden Outdoor Mud Kitchen for Kids with Water Tank & Faucet

A play kitchen has been the most universally and longest played with toy across the years from my first, who is now 9, to my third, now 2.5 years old. So when I was looking for something new to keep them busy in the backyard, this stood out. It is a bit small for a play kitchen. IMO the optimal age range is 2-4. The description says 3+. My 2 year old especially loves it. I think my 5 year old likes it too, but the 2 year old hogs it, lol. It was pretty easy to put together by myself but it took probably 2 hours total. It feels very durable. If I could make an improvement, I‘’d like a way to store everything in a way that wouldn‘’t hold any water. For example, the tray could have tapered edges instead of grooves and could be used to cover the sink upside down when not in use. This, in addition to how small it is, is why I docked a star. Overall, I knew I could trust Hape for a quality product and they delivered!

This is a great outdoor kitchen for our toddler. Easy to assemble, sturdy wood and materials unlike other outdoor kitchens I've researched. This is the perfect addition to our patio just in time for summer independent play. We just got it so I'm not sure how it holds up after a rainy season, but I plan to coat the wood with a wood sealer just to help keep it looking nice and prevent warping.

This play kitchen wasn't difficult to put together at all. There were a couple parts that were confusing like, the instructions leaving out how to put the knobs on, which was things face looked confusing. Over all it functions like it should and the kids love it. I don't know about the durability as I just built it last week. It's perfect fit for 4-6 year olds and is a cute little kitchen.

Easy assembly with clear instructions. All of the accessories are so cute and nicely made. Everything is quality material for long lasting play and easy cleaning. My 2 year old has loved it so far.Time will tell how it holds up in outdoor weather but so far we are happy!

Just assembled it! perfect size for our 18mo with a little room to grow into it.Easy assembly, took an hour by myself without a powerdrill. Pro tip - use a power drill on the lowest torque possible, and just go really slow. The wood is soft and easy to drill into an easy to split the wood.Once screwed together, it feels sturdy and I think my toddler will have a lot of fun playing with this. We will see how it stands up to the outdoor outdoors in Vermont. Probably best to throw a tarp over this in the winter.

Sturdy and made well

I was glad to see that out of the box I was dealing with real wood, nothing manufactured or anything. It appears to be treated which is a bonus. It was frustrating that the hardware wasn't labeled - I had to guess based on number of screws included and approximate size. Even so the screws provided for the hot plates and for the oven knobs were too long. Also, I lost a screw because my toddler was "helping" me put it together while we were outside - and unfortunately there wasn't any extra of that screw (I think there was only one extra overall). It did take a while to get it put together, you will definitely want a drill. Pilot holes were decent. But the end result is super cute and my daughter loves it! Hopefully it lasts for years to come.

Almost two years later and the kiddo loves it. Nothing has broken. Fantastic play kitchen

Keeping kids entertained while allowing them to use their own imagination for what's cooking for dinner.

We purchased the Hape Mud Kitchen for our preschool, and it has been a huge hit with our students. The children love engaging in imaginative play, mixing mud, water, leaves, and other natural materials to create "recipes" and explore sensory experiences. The kitchen is attractive, sturdy, and provides wonderful opportunities for collaborative outdoor play.The only issue we've encountered is with the faucet. One of our preschoolers was able to take it apart, and now it only allows water to flow continuously rather than functioning as intended. Since this is such a popular feature, we're hoping there may be a way to replace the faucet mechanism or purchase a replacement part.Overall, we are very pleased with the mud kitchen and would recommend it to other early childhood programs. The children use it daily and it has become one of our most loved outdoor learning materials. We would appreciate any guidance on replacing or repairing the faucet feature.

Love this mud kitchen for my granddaughters. The girls are 18 months old and 4 years old and they spend so much time entertaining themselves with this mud kitchen. It's so well made and easy to assemble. Well, that's what my husband said. ??

Wet messy fun for the grandkids. They do make enormous puddles but they have so darn much fun with this. Play for an hour, then want to do it again later. Love this!

Wow. My daughter LOVES this. What an amazing toy to take up a 3.5 year old's attention. I can get an hour plus of independent play from her with this (along with dish detergent, a shaker with baking soda, and some cheap spice shakers). Great quality. I've left it out in the rain and heat and snow, and so far it's been holding up great (a bit over seven months so far). I do bring in the little pieces instead of leaving them outside. But the main wooden structure has been left uncovered outside.The size is just right for my daughter. The refillable "sink faucet" is perfect for moving the entire thing wherever I want, as well. Since it doesn't need a connection to a hose.

My husband assembled the outdoor kitchen, he has experience in woodworking and stated it was easily put together. He said if you were not familiar with woodworking , it could be a little bit difficult. It seems well-made and we can‘’t wait for our neice to have lots of fun with it.

Perfect mud kitchen for my toddler. It was easy to put together even with the distractions of a 2 year old. He has been playing with it Everytime we go outside. Well worth the price.

Granddaughter loves this kitchen. She's 2. And grandma and grandpa didn't fight putting it together.

Sturdy construction and our 1, 4, and 5 year olds love it! Two suggestions for improvement: extend the lip that hooks the water tank onto the back. If filled to capacity, it can/will slip and fall, strengthen the magnet that holds the door in place or use a better catch.

I bought this in March 2025 and it has held up well. It is now September. It is very well used by my grandchildren. The smallest ones use it the most but really all the toddlers. The older children get involved with it too as they refill the water reservoir for the younger children. It is VERY Good Quality!

Kids are loving this outdoor kitchen.
